When working days vary, a single number labelled days off can leave too much unexplained. Keep leave units, dates and request status together so your personal record is easier to review.
Core leave records are part of the useful Free plan. Both plans remain ad-free; DutyNest does not determine legal leave entitlement.
Choose the unit your arrangement uses
DutyNest supports leave records and entitlement in hours, days or shifts. Enter the allowance and any carry-over from your official information. Do not assume that one day always equals a fixed number of hours when shifts have different lengths.
Distinguish requested from approved
Keep pending, approved, declined and cancelled records distinct. Review used leave, approved leave ahead, pending requests and what remains. A request entered in DutyNest is not sent to your employer and is not approval to take leave.
Retain a useful history
Balance changes have a history so you can understand adjustments instead of relying on a total with no explanation. Compare your own record with the official leave system when an allowance changes, a request is cancelled or a new leave year starts.
A practical way to start
- Copy your confirmed entitlement and leave-year dates.
- Record a request using the same units as your arrangement.
- Update its status only when the official decision is known.
Does the app approve leave or notify my manager?
No. Submit and confirm requests through your employer's process, then keep your personal copy up to date.
